Creative Arts at St Annes
At St Annes School and 6th Form the creative arts forms an important part of the curriculum. We believe the arts in education stimulates creativity and imagination whilst giving each child unique opportunities to develop their creative skills, fine motor skills and to support other aspects of the core curriculum. We use creative arts to support communication, mental health and to support students’ social emotional well-being and spiritualty.
Our intent is to provide high quality provision that will align with the school ethos “We all achieve”.
In art our three-year rolling programme is used to, engage, inspire, and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. As pupils progress, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design. They should also know how art and design both reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity, and wealth of our nation”. This will lead to long term learning and strengthening the mastery of art and design year on year. We offer robust arts qualifications and use art and enterprise to create opportunities for students.
At St Annes we are developing an exciting music curriculum, we offer an exciting rolling programme that develops students’ musicality and offers the opportunity to show case students talent. We are harness professional music tuition into school, with violin lessons being offered privately alongside the ERYC music hub offering ukulele, Boomwhacker and Glockenspiel session alongside teacher led music and instrument exploration. Students have the opportunity to partake in an open and diverse orchestra and music clubs where students can explore a multitude of different instruments. Our focus is holistic. The spiritual development in all our children. In our school we celebrate diversity and will ensure that every child can learn by providing an environment, curriculum and resources that are accessible to all and will allow all children to reach their full potential and give them a lifelong love of the subject.
We offer students the opportunity to show case their talent to families and the community with many exciting events booked throughout the year. This year we have performed for parents at Christmas, delighting families with classic Christmas songs, held arts exhibitions and enjoyed a trip to London to see the amazing Wicked.
